Cuts & shaping
A good cut is settled before the scissors come out. Length, shape and the small decisions about weight and fringe are worked out in conversation, so the result still sits right after the first wash and the tenth.
Come in with a picture of hair you like, and say plainly what you don’t.
- Bring one photo of what you like and one of what you don’t.
- Say how much time you give your hair on a weekday morning.
- Tell your stylist how long you can go between visits. The shape should match the calendar.
“Claudine is my hair dresser and is excellent!”
02
Color, worked out in the chair.
Color starts with what is already on your head: what it has been through, how it grows, and where it ends up by July. The plan comes first, then the brush.
- 01 What you have used at home or somewhere else, and when.
- 02 The grow-out you can live with, and for how many weeks.
- 03 How often you can realistically come back.
“Love my stylist/colorist Megan! She gets it right everytime with my long, thick, curly hair…”
03
Long, thick, curly hair takes a plan.
Curls & thick hair
Hair with a lot of curl and a lot of weight behaves differently wet than dry, in July than in January. The first appointment is mostly about how yours actually lives: how it dries, what humidity does to it, what you want it to do.
Tell the salon about your hair when you call, and ask who has the time and the touch for it.
04
The spa side of the book.
The name is Headlines Salon & Spa. What is on the spa side changes with the week, so ask when you call and the salon will tell you what is open.
How a visit goes
Three steps, starting with a phone call.
- 1
Call and ask
Appointments are made by phone. Ask for this week’s times and an estimate for what you have in mind.
- 2
Say what you want
Cut, color, curls or the spa side. Mention how long and how thick your hair is and what it has been through.
- 3
Sit down and talk it through
Your stylist works out length, shade and upkeep with you before anything is cut or colored.
